Extrusion Welders
Extrusion welders extrude a molten bead of thermoplastic material (HDPE, PP, etc.) onto the base material, while a pre-heat nozzle blows a stream of hot air ahead of the weld. In geosynthetic applications, extrusion welders do a great job in tight spots where a fusion (wedge) welder wouldn't go, such as pipes, boots, sumps, or small patches. In the rigid plastics industry, extruders can be used for joining sheet plastic with "V-seams" or fillet welds. In either case, the area is prepped by light surface grinding and tack welding.
Extrusion welds can be somewhat operator dependent, as the technician must control the angle and speed of the tool by hand. Therefore, it pays to use a well made extruder. The Swiss manufacturer Leister is known world-wide for their quality & expertise in hot air welding technology. The line of Leister Extruders are an exciting extension of that plastic welding expertise, offering precise temperature control of both pre-heat air and molten mass flow. All in a well-built, field-ready housing. Concord is proud to offer the complete line of surprisingly affordable Leister Extrusion welders and accessories.
